Natal Check/MOT
Your Postnatal Health Matters
Welcome to the Natal Check at Flex Pilates and Physiotherapy - your comprehensive postnatal health assessment designed to support your recovery and empower you on your journey back to fitness and wellness.
Whether you're six weeks or six years postpartum, understanding how your body has changed and recovered is essential. Our specialist Natal Check provides you with expert guidance, reassurance, and a clear roadmap for your unique recovery journey.
Led by Beki, our experienced Women's Health Physiotherapist, this detailed assessment gives you the time and space to discuss your concerns, explore your recovery, and plan your path forward with confidence.

Why Have a Natal Check?
Pregnancy and childbirth place extraordinary demands on your body. Yet many women receive minimal postnatal care or guidance on how to safely return to exercise and daily activities.
Our Natal Check is designed to:
-
Assess your core and pelvic floor strength
-
Identify any abdominal separation (diastasis recti)
-
Check your posture and alignment
-
Evaluate scar healing (if you've had a C-section or perineal tears)
-
Address any pain, discomfort or concerns you're experiencing
-
Provide personalised advice on returning to exercise safely
-
Give you confidence in your body's recovery
-
This isn't just a tick-box exercise - it's a comprehensive assessment tailored to your individual experience, goals and concerns.
Who is the Natal Check For?
Our Natal Check is perfect for any woman who has given birth, regardless of:
-
How long ago you gave birth (6 weeks to 6+ years postpartum)
-
Your type of birth (vaginal, assisted, or C-section)
-
Whether you've had one baby or several
-
Your current fitness level or activity goals
You might benefit particularly if you:
-
Want to return to exercise but feel unsure where to start
-
Experience leaking when you cough, sneeze, jump or run
-
Have pain during intercourse
-
Notice a gap or bulge in your tummy
-
Have ongoing back, hip or pelvic pain
-
Feel your core is weak or your tummy feels "loose"
-
Have concerns about your C-section or perineal scar
-
Simply want reassurance that your body has recovered well

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I have a Natal Check? We recommend waiting until at least 6 weeks postpartum, though you can benefit from a Natal Check at any stage - even years after giving birth.
What should I wear? Please wear comfortable clothing that allows us to assess your abdomen and movement - leggings/shorts and a sports bra or vest top are ideal.
Can I bring my baby? Absolutely! We're a baby-friendly clinic and understand the realities of early motherhood. Your little one is welcome to join us.
Will the examination be uncomfortable? We'll talk you through everything before we begin. All assessments are conducted with your comfort and consent. If you have concerns about internal examination, please let us know - we can adapt the assessment accordingly.
What if I need further treatment? If we identify issues that would benefit from ongoing care, we'll discuss your options. This might include our Pre and Postnatal Pilates classes, Scar Therapy, or further physiotherapy sessions.
