Jo Ness
Jo lives in a small village near Wakefield with her husband, 2 children, 2 dogs and 4 rabbits! She trained and qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1997, developing a keen interest in Pilates, she also qualified as an APPI instructor in 2004.
In 2005, Jo created Flex Pilates and taught classes from local church halls and community centres. Alongside the classes she was working as a Physiotherapist privately and through the years has been involved with Northern Ballet Company, The English Institute of Sport and a clinic in Leeds.
In 2017 a building in Hillsborough came up for rent and it was then that Jo decided to create Flex Pilates and Physiotherapy. The building was transformed from a retail unit into a beautiful studio and Physiotherapy clinic. Jo moved all the classes into the studio and subsequently built a fantastic business, employing new staff and welcoming many more new clients.
2020 became a turning for point for Jo and due to the pandemic made her re-think her work-life balance and how to move forward with the business. With so many loyal clients and staff, however, she knew Flex needed to continue. The instructors kept Flex running and
continued to teach the classes both in the studio and online whilst Jo decided to pursue a slightly different career path!
Jo’s life now looks very different and in 2022 she re-trained as an HGV driver (she’s always wanted to drive large vehicles!)
For the business to continue to grow, a new Director was needed and in 2023 Beki Cunliffe expressed an interest and Jo is so proud to say Beki now runs Flex Pilates and Physiotherapy.
Jo now works full time in the logistics sector but has a keen interest in the future of Flex Pilates and Physiotherapy, a business which took a lot of hard work and effort to build. She will continue to be involved with the business in the background, helping Beki with key
decisions and strategies, excited to see where Flex can go in the future!
